Family Visit to NC

17 Weeks
How your baby's growing:Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

This past weekend we went to Winston-Salem, NC and visited with family and friends. It was a whirlwind time, filled with lots of eating and a little bit of shopping. :)
We had a get together Friday evening with my parents, grandparents, Ricky's mom, aunt and uncle, family friends from church, and my brother. We had yummy NC barbecue and all the fixins'. Saturday I shopped for more maternity clothes but only ended up with one dress. We also went to Babies R Us and to say the least, we were overwhelmed. Who knew a tiny infant required so many things!
Saturday night we had pizza at Mellow Mushroom and later I treated myself to ice cream. It was delicious! I think I'm over my sweets aversion. I can definitely handle chocolate now. But I'm still limiting myself to treats only on the weekend.

Sunday we attended church and everyone had to check out my belly. I'm sure it will be twice that size when we visit again in a few months!

I'm still waiting to feel the baby's movements. I know it will be subtle when I feel it, but the doctor said I should notice something in a few weeks. I'm sure that will be the coolest sensation I will ever feel. A little baby inside me moving around...how remarkable!

Like tiny little bubbles! At first you might think you imagined it but it is wonderful beyond words. God bless!

I remember it felt like I swallowed butterflies. It was very fleeting, but very noticeable.
